Update 2/26/2015

Parents,

Students have a worksheet on using a protractor to figure out the degrees of angles. Your child was provided a paper protractor to use to solve the problems.

They should continue doing their reading log. Due to the snow days, the spelling test is being pushed to next Tuesday and progress reports will also go home on Tuesday.

Daily Update 2/18

Hi Parents and Families!

Since it was a very short day in the middle of a very short week, there is no homework tonight.  Students are expected to continue reading nightly, but we will not have a reading log or spelling words this week.

In math, students have finished up Topic 8 and will be moving on to Topic 9--Geometry this week.  There is no math homework tonight, but if you'd like to get a head start on Topic 9, be sure and check out the 4th grade geometry topics on www.ixl.com.

  • Study the 5 Latin stems and their meanings.  We'll have a test on Friday. 
  • Keep reading nightly and completing the reading log questions. Please encourage your child to write his/her answers in complete sentences.
  • Optional:  We've been working on persuasive letters in Writing, and most students are working on their rough draft in google docs.  Students may use their google accounts to access their letters and work at home.

  • 8-4 Practice sheet
  • Optional: Please encourage your child to spend time reviewing and extending his/her math skills using their IXL subscription.  Thanks!

Update 2/2/2015

Parents,

The students will need to complete their reading log and math worksheet (8-3) on division. This is a new unit on long division where many students are learning the division process for the first time. Students are also welcome to work on their persuasive writing at home on google docs if they are able to.

Their stem words this week are: mater - Latin root for mother, qua - Latin root for water, gen - Latin root for birth or race, bio - Latin root for life, spec - Latin root for see or look.
